The Art of Giving Back: Our New Collaboration with State Bags

We’ve partnered with socially conscious brand State on a new line of back-to-school gear

Back to school has never been quite so cool. We’ve partnered with State Bags, a socially conscious brand based in Brooklyn that supports American children and families in need through its sales, on a new line of backpacks, lunch boxes, and artfolios.

The collection features two exclusive Met-themed patterns. The first, Free Unicorn, reimagines the story of the unicorn from the famed Unicorn Tapestries at The Met Cloisters. Not to be outdone, Hippoflage, our second pattern, stars The Met’s unofficial mascot, “William,” the ancient Egyptian faience hippo, and offers a fanciful take on traditional camouflage.

We kicked off our collaboration with a “bag drop” at the Museum earlier this summer. Twenty elementary school students from Roads to Success, one of State’s partner organizations, enjoyed a tour of the Egyptian galleries and received their very own Hippoflage backpacks.

The Met x State items are available both in-store and online at store.metmuseum.org. A portion of the sales will propel our collective mission to support American children and families in need. #GiveBackPack
